HOSTING A HOUSE PARTY

Having a house party is a great way to fundraise for Guiding Light Orphans! Not only do you get to gather your friends for a fun night together, but they can also help raise money for our charity! Here are some steps to throwing a fundraising house party.

1. What kind of party are you going to have? Whether it is going to be something simple like a cocktail hour, wine tasting, or afternoon tea, or something larger like a potluck dinner, formal meal, or club gathering, its crucial to decide what will entice your guests to attend.

 

2. Where and when will the party take place? Choosing a date that is most accommodating for yourself and the majority of your invited guests is key. Depending on the type of party and the number of guests invited, you will need to decide what size space will be most accommodating. If it were just a small and simple gathering, your home or a friend’s home would be suitable. If you plan to have more guests than a home can accommodate, you could always look into using a local hall or community room or even a park (weather permitting). As long as there is enough room for the guests to park and to be comfortable, any space you like will work.

 

3. What kind of food or drinks will be provided? Depending again on the type of party you are going to throw, you will need to decide what food or drinks you want and make sure that it will be prepared in time for the date you have selected. If you decide to go with a potluck, guests who RSVP that they can attend should be given ideas for what they can bring. Otherwise, if you plan to provide food or drinks yourself, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to either order or prepare what you will need.

 

4. What kind of information will you give your guests about Guiding Light Orphans? Jolly and/or Kurt, the founders of Guiding Light Orphans, will come to your party and present information about GLO and what we do and how your guests donations will be put to good use.

 

On our Documentation page, we have a printable template of our donation form that should be put in envelopes along with donations as well as a sign in sheet for guests to fill out as they arrive. Included also is a checklist to help with time management and make sure that everything will be ready with time to spare for before the day of the party! Birthday/Holiday Gift Donations

When your family and friends want to give you gifts but you would prefer they give back instead, we can set up a donation page that you can share with them so they can donate to GLO as their gift to you! This is a good way to raise money for your favorite charity without seeming too pushy.

 

When someone wants to give you a gift for your birthday or any other holiday but you can’t think of anything that you need or even would like, paying it forward by allowing your friends and family to donate to GLO would be a great way to support our mission to provide health care for those who have none.

Restaurant Fundraising

Sometimes local restaurants will donate a percentage of their patrons bill to local charities. They will advertise for that charity and allow patrons who provide their print-out to have a percentage of their meal go to the charity being supported. This is a simple and easy way to raise money for GLO, especially if you can have someone give the handouts to other restaurant-goers too!
